Molybdenum Disulfide Nanosheet - Morphology

MoS2 nanosheet

Introduction

Ball milling mixture of molybdenum trioxide and sulfur would be incinerated for two hours at 600 ℃ conditions under an argon atmosphere, With the furnace cooled to room temperature, molybdenum disulfide nanosheets would be obatined. In this process, enough sulfur must be placed upstream of the air flow, or it may result in incomplete vulcanization. Picture (a) shows a typical molybdenum disulfide nanosheet SEM photograph, it can be seen that the structure of these nanosheets are substantially monodisperse. And it can be seen from the SEM photographs picture (b), nanosheets are monolithic with a length of 100 nm and have a bent.

It can be seen from TEM photograph that molybdenum disulfide nanosheet are monolithic sheet or radial clusters, also with a slightly bend. Thanks to a special appearance and good stacking structure of nanosheets, molybdenum disulfide nano-sheet is expected to greatly improve the catalytic ability. Because this structure can reduce invalid basic surface and expose more active edge to a large extent .

However, if the vulcanization temperature is too high, molybdenum disulfide nanosheet is likely to curling due to the swing edge and form zero-dimensional onion-like or one-dimensional tubular closed structure.
