TZM is the short name of titanium zirconium molybdenum, which contents of 0.50% Ti(Titanium), 0.08% Zr(Zirconium), 0.02% C(Carbon), and balance Mo(Molybdenum).

As for the contents of Ti, Zr, and C are not so much, and the adding of these elements are to increase the properties of elongation, tensile strength and hardness, therefore, the basic properties of molybdenum are still applied for TZM alloy, such as high recrystallization temperature, high strength, hardness and good ductility at room and elevated temperatures. With the alloyed elements, TZM performs better than unalloyed molybdenum. In addition, TZM owns other properties of good thermal conductivity, good corrosion resistance, low vapor pressure and good machine-ability.

Hot runner system is a system for plastic injection under 200~400℃. The process is to melt plastic and run through tunnels, and out from TZM nozzle to a set shape, such as Iphone shell, Samsung phone shell, TV shell, car shell or any other material needed plastic, metals.

Mostly, the cost of TZM is considered for the whole set of hot runner system, which is one of main application of TZM alloy, and even though its machining cost is higher than pure molybdenum, they are still widely used for its properties.
